Oh I can weather Sherlock's insults, whether it's my capacity for over-protectiveness or my weight. I don't think we'd know how to relate to one another anymore without insults. As odd as it is, I tend to take it as the only way Sherlock knows to show he cares.

Well you shouldn't have to weather Sherlock's insults. Whether you can or not doesn't matter, he's really bad to you. I'm sure you can think of better ways to relate to him, even if he can't do the same. I get that impression of Sherlock, but then he's also rude to people he doesn't like. It's hard to tell where he differentiates between rudeness because he cares and rudeness because he's rude.

I'm there for him. He knows that. If anything, I hope this accident will show that to him. He approves of us, of you making me happy...Well approve may be too strong a term. Doesn't mind the thought of us might be a better description, so long as I don't disrupt you giving him cases of course.

If he doesn't see and appreciate what you do for him after this accident, I don't know what you're going to do with him. Would be nice to hear him express some positive feelings towards a fellow human being for once, especially his brother. Glad to hear he approves of us- not that it would stop me if he didn't. And I wouldn't dare stop giving him cases, I value my life too much for that.

I'm happy to hear it wouldn't stop you. I fear he and I would have had words if he thought it inappropriate for me to begin a relationship with you. I have every right to be happy, even if he'll be able to tell whatever we've gotten up to in private. Yes, you'd probably just have him breaking in to your office if you refused him cases.

Well it isn't really any of his business what you do in your spare time, not if you don't want it to be. Even if he is your brother. I swear though, if he starts doing his deductions on our private life I won't hesitate in punching him. Actually, the same applies if he ever broke in to the offices.

I think our saving grace may be the fact that he'll not want to contemplate what we may be doing in private. As his elder brother I should probably express disapproval...but as his elder brother I can admit he sometimes deserves any punches he receives.

That's true. Though I doubt it'll stop him making underhand remarks. Anything to get under our skin. Sorry, I wouldn't usually threaten anyone's younger brother, but in Sherlock's case I think it might just give him a bit of humility. Come to think of it, I can't imagine how he hasn't been punched more often.

Don't worry too much about his underhanded remarks. So long as we're honest with each other and together, we'll find our own ways to get back at him should he become annoying. Yes...a testament to the restraint of others.

I'll try to remember that if he ever gets too unbearable. I think I'm done here, so I can bring round some of the files now if it's a good time?

He's having heart problems right now so it might not be the best. But I suppose you could always come by so that he has the files when he wakes again?

Christ, hopefully it isn't life threatening? I don't want to intrude, maybe it would be better if I saved them for another day?

They've had to use the defibrillator. He's stable now. Please come, he'll want to see the files when he wakes.
