*he awakes three hours later, and realizing there's paper in his hand, crinkles it, unable to take it out of his hand to read it*
*looks over at Mycroft and sees that he is in a deep sleep*
*sighs out of boredom*

*he has convinced one of the nurses to hand him his phone and he has texted from memory rather than being able to see it. Doing so has comforted him as it lets him know he can still work*
When can I leave?
*he's had no nervous system abnormalities in a few hours, but the nurses still want to keep an eye on him*

*An older, motherly nurse is checking Sherlock's chart*
"You have made an extraordinarily fast recovery, Mr Holmes. We're very impressed. I'll fetch your Doctor to make a judgement, but I see no reason you can't be discharged presently. Your wife called, by the way, you were asleep. We told her you were making good progress."

Good. Harry wants me in Paris in two days, so I'll be able to go? Admittedly in a motorised wheelchair as I still can't walk.
*he continues to be distressed by the idea, but the thought of being able to do anything at all is cheering him up a bit*
And yes, I know medical supervision will still be required. Mycroft will take care of that.
*smiles his manipulative smile, looking at Mycroft sideways*

"Paris? Very romantic! A break should help with the recovery - nice and relaxing. I can't see any reason why that should be a problem. I'll fetch your Doctor."
*She leaves the room, a smile on her face*

Mycroft gave Sherlock a pointed look.
That smile doesn't work on me. It hasn't since you were five.

No harm in trying.
*fidgets as best he can; now that he has permission to leave the hospital and indeed the country, he's more restless than he was*

*A doctor, young and much fresher-faced than the others, obviously early on his shift, enters with a smile*
"Mr Holmes. I'm Doctor Carlisle. I've just been looking at your records. As the nurses have said, you've made an exceptionally speedy recovery. I understand you're hoping for some rest and recuperation abroad, and I personally think that is a very sensible idea.
Someone will be up in an hour or so to check on your stitches, and by this afternoon you shall be free to go."
*Carlisle looks over to Mycroft*
"A nurse mentioned you were organising the support for your brother during his recovery; here's all the relevant notes and information any other doctor will need."
*He passes a folder to Mycroft*
"Have you any other questions?"

*with a snide raise of the eyebrow*
Who's paying for the electric wheelchair?

"The hospital can let one out to you. I'll send the paperwork up. How are you feeling now, Mr Holmes?"

Oh, the usual. Bored, impatient, restless. Reluctant to leave the country in this state. I am not letting her bathe me.
*his nostrils flare at the thought of it*
