Harry is twitching. She's been twitching for the last ten minutes. It's not cigarettes. It's not drink. It's fear. John's awake. He could walk in any minute. She has to tell him. Finally, she snaps, stands up and half-yells, half-hisses
Because. I'm. Pregnant.

*raises an eyebrow and leans forward slightly--now he's interested*
And somehow Moriarty thinks he's the father. How long have you been pregnant?
And more importantly, why are you still drinking and smoking like an idiot, unless you don't mind birth defects or possible miscarraige...
Though in what way can he use this against you? It's not as though either of you are in an important position that would prove scandalous if you were pregnant. For the record, is he the father?

With a bitter laugh Of course he's not the father. I haven't seen him in years. It's all email now, and texts. She rolls her eyes
And before you say anything about my... habits, I only found out this morning. I wasn't sure. I took a test before I came to see you.
Scandal isn't everything Sherlock. I don't give a damn about reputation - I'm a gay, divorced convicted murderer after all. I just want him out of my life. And I want his silence. So, this is where I need your help.
I need to blackmail Jim Moriarty.

If he's not the father, who is?
*growing more exasperated and impatient by the minute*
And blackmail is hardly my forte. I solve crimes, not invent them.
*smiles*
But then any chance to be one-up on Moriarty is a chance not to be missed.
What did you have in mind?

The father isn't important. And as for Mr Moriarty, that's why I'm here. You know him better than I do, you're the detective mastermind after all. It needs to be subtle. I'm not subtle. You might of noticed.
Impulsively, she pulls her cigarettes from her bag, before sighing and closing her eyes
I don't want Jim Moriarty anywhere near me, or... Well. This. she points at her stomach, before offering the cigarette again
You might as well take it, Sherlock. It's no good to me.

*he takes the cigarette and looks at it almost contemplatively before smirking a little*
So you want me to blackmail him but you have nothing to offer in the way of something he might be willing to exchange his silence for? You do understand I've been trying to bring him down in my own ways since I first met him? Unless there is absolute proof, there really isn't any point.
If she wanted a blackmailer, she should have gone to Milverton. I hear he's an expert.
I'm not going to do the whole job for you. Do you have anything at all that he might not want public?

Please smoke it. I'm hoping it'll calm me down by proxy.
I've got informatiOn, but nothing solid. It's all whispers, and no-one is willing to talk. I've been in touch with some old... friends, but they won't talk. There's Only one person I can think who might know something, but I can't find a way of getting in touch with her without him knowing.
Besides Sherlock, if you don't help me, I will be prepared to name you godfather. She points with a reluctant laugh at her stomach.

Oh, God.
*rolls his eyes*
If I don't have anything concrete, how do you expect me to go after him?
*turns the cigarette over in his hands*
I promised I wouldn't. Cold turkey. John's not in the room to see. No. Stop. I promised.
*taps it on the arm of the chair*
I've, um, I've given up smoking.

I gave up men. We all have our vices.
I never said I didn't have anything. I've just got to make some calls. See some people. Call in some favours.
There's only one person I can think of who might talk. She's safe enough, she's got nothing to lose. But I can't see how we can talk to her unless...
Harry takes her lighter and presses it into Sherlock'a handed
Sherlock Holmes, how would you fancy breaking into prison?

I've already told you that there's a Harriet Watson serving my sentence. Well, I'm sure you've realised Moriarty must have owed her a rather significant favour to help her. There must be a reason he owed her such a debt.
I've got a folder, at my hou - my ex-wife's house. I can arrange to pick it up this afternoon. It's got everything I know about Jim in it, bank statements, invoices, letters, emails. The last time I saw him was just after he got me out of prison - I spent the night at his and copied his laptop's contents before he woke up. See? I may not be a genius, but I'm not a total loss.
For the love of God Sherlock, smoke the damn cigarette before I do.
Oh - and there's one another thing I need your help with...

*torn between wanting to smoke it, not wanting to smoke it because he'd promised John he wouldn't, and not wanting to smoke it because someone had ordered him to*
I'm a detective, not a common burglar. I deal in brainwork, not physical action. It can't be that hard to ask for Clara's files.
But obviously, you want me to, because you've heard about my talent for disguises.
What else is there?

Harriet is staring longingly at the cigarette in Sherlock's hands, and it takes her a moment to snap out of her trance.
I'm homeless, Sherlock. And, according to the stick in my handbag, four weeks pregnant. I need a place to stay.

*knows what she's trying to ask*
I'm not sure I could live with this woman as a neighbor. Or for that matter I don't think she'd survive long.
The basement flat is up for rent and I'm sure Mrs. Hudson could help out for now.

Harriet grits her teeth. She knows when she's not wanted, but that doesn't stop her going down without a fight
I want to be closer to John... I... need to be closer to John.
Oh, don't look like that. I'm tidy, I don't smoke or drink - anymore - and I cook a mean chicken stroganoff.
Please, Sherlock. I'm desperate. And...
Just tell him. You've babbled every other secret, why stop now?
I'm fed up of being on my own.
