*sitting in Mycroft's car, head resting against the window*
I'm sorry. I've done it again. I'm the annoying younger brother who always fouls up the beginning of any relationship you try to have. This is why I can't drink. I get...stupid.
*a silent tear falls as he feels like he's still messing up Mycroft's love life and any chance the older Holmes might have at happiness*

First, you didn't mean it. You were given alcohol against your will.
Second, you haven't ruined anything with Greg. It's a promising start...it wouldn't do to rush him.

That's what you said with...um...Steven. Stephanie? Steven. But that ended with you shouting at me. I was only trying to observe a slice of human interaction. I still screw it up when watching John and his girlfriends.
*gently knocks his head against the window as a self-reprimand*
I feel like I'm seven again. I'm acting like it too. I need to sleep this off...

Mycroft glanced out the window. They were approaching his home.
Perhaps you should practice thinking a bit before cutting the person you're observing into tiny metaphorical pieces...
He sighed.
You don't mind, do you, my pursuing Lestrade?

*curls himself slightly as if to remind himself to shut up, even though he feels like screaming at Mycroft--he doesn't need to "practise thinking" as he does it often, though, admittedly not in relationship matters*
*a muffled grunt is the most he can do to conceal his frustration*
*after a moment during which he carefully controls his breathing*
Why would I mind? It's your life, your choices.

He's intimately involved in your work Sherlock. I don't want you resenting my affections for Lestrade if they interfere with your work.

As long as it doesn't interfere with his work, it won't be a problem. Unless you solve all his cases. That's my job. And if I don't have my job any more I'll...um...
*tries to think of something and fails*
*sighs*
Are we there yet?
Why did I say that?

The car slowed.
Good. I assure you I am far too busy to solve those cases.
Ah, we're here. Come on then, let's get you to bed...

Good. I think I can walk myself inside.
*upon entering the door, he closes his eyes and, despite not having visited in years, feels like he's at home; it's the familiar smell, mostly*
*crosses to the sofa and sits down, and, inside of three minutes falls asleep, even gently snoring*

He sighed.
I meant a bed.

*waking up to his brother's voice*
Mm?
*blinks sleepily*
Oh. Bed. Uhm...which bed?

The guest bedroom Sherlock. Come on, I'll see you to bed. I'll likely check on you later.

*sighs, feeling both drowsier and more like a child with each step--he has a sort of full-sense flashback to his very early childhood when Mycroft had helped him walk to bed, staggering both with tiredness and the fact that he'd been walking for less than a year*
Mmnot expecting otherwise.
*he collapses face-down on the bed, splayed sideways, too tired to bother with blankets*
*drools slightly as he snores softly*

Rolling his eyes fondly, Mycroft maneuvered Sherlock so he could throw the duvet over him.
Good night little brother.

*he dreams about being three again and sitting in the French sunlight, laughing at Mycroft's Bilbo Baggins impressions. The flowers in the field tickled his nose--they were at the right height to brush the toddler's nose--and a bee landed on his nose and he giggled gently, too young to know how much it would hurt to be stung. The sun was warm and gentle and he was happy again, even though it was only a memory-dream*
